I made up a new word to pass the time:

Romerostasis (from George Romero, a director or classic zombie movies; and Homeostasis, an organism's ability to uphold a constant inner environment) = That which enables zombies in fiction to "survive" in cold/warm, dry/humid, etc., environments without being destroyed, despite being dead and supposedly lacking homeostasis.
